Sometimes it seems like I’m stuck in the ’90s, since that’s when I came of age musically and a lot of the bands I like were at the height of their popularity. With that in mind, I figured I should come up with a list of newer bands I like, lest I remain stuck in the past.

There are, of course, lots of other guitarists and bands that I love, but these are the ones that make me want to put my fist up and snarl simply because of the sound of the guitar. I tend to like thick, distorted, grungy and/or metal-y sounds. Taken side-by-side, there’s a definite similarity.
